The design is intended to be impressionistic, depicting the universality of potential familial arrangements. It is austere, simple and contemplative – a loose reflection of Japanese aesthetics.MediaArtist InformationMarion emigrated from Holland to Canada as a small child and has always had an awareness of art that was created in far off lands. Her parents were open to worldly influences, and their open and enlightened attitude became her foundation. For her, ancient history, textures, colours and forms have blended with the rich indigenous cultures in ways that affect our unique Canadian identity. Marion’s lifelong career in visual arts was spent primarily in Brampton as a potter and sculptor experimenting with various materials. Figurative and representational themes emerged from clay, then wood, Jewelstone, concrete and bronze, celebrating my experiences as a parent and partner. Stating “I has been fortunate to have had the recognition and support from my community that have made my professional artistic life possible.” It is Marion’s belief that our responsibility as artists is to share our vision and passion in order to inspire, stimulate, and engage those around us. It is through our creativity that we can advocate for a more inclusive society.
