3D Virtual Gallery
Highlighting Brampton Artists!

This online exhibition features the work of 20 local artists who explore their connection to Brampton in a digital postcard. The postcards range from photographs, to illustrations, to collage, and reflect on how each artist and their artistic practice captures the spirit of their home - a love letter to the city.

The Artists

I cannot image not living in Brampton near Heart Lake as this city has been an integral part of my healing, self love and development as an artist. It has allowed me to thrive and be part of the photographer I am today.

I'm a self-taught visual artist who enjoys creating abstract , landscape, and portrait paintings. As I continue to explore and learn more about Brampton through an artist lens I discover endless adventure and charm. This inspires me to reflect Brampton's spirit of awe and adventure with each painting that I create.

Since 2020 and the arrival of COVID-19, our residences have become central for us, and my watercolour portraits honour our relationship with our homes. My house portrait series illustrates images of home in Brampton, and in particular, home thatmay be slated for descruction. My work expresses how a home was once a vital part of its neighbourhood and suggests the idea that progress surpasses the relevance of the original home construction.

I always tell a story, whether it is a sigular narrative in one piece or many interwinding over a body of work. A big part of my personal story is my home and the land, people, and places that occupy it. I was born and currently live in Brampton and Brampton is integral to my story and practice.

My name is Amrita Bansal. I've been drawing since I was little and art has always been my favourite way of expressing myself. I wish to share my thoughts and feelings with the rest of Brampton.\

Gaurav Saini is an Indian artist who works in the current current climate where many believe history has no relevance, he find himself continually returning to those aspects that are often hidden or misrepresented  in the "official" recordings for posterity. In his varied and diverse approaches to making artwork, the context of the work has an impact on the works relationship to the viewer. Gaurav's work ranges from the context of the street to museums, from within to cosmos.

Growing up in Canada I struggled to identify with my Tamil heritage, but living in Brampton gave me ample opportunities to explore and engage with art forms that were native to South India. These opportunities allowed me to embrace my culture and  proudly identify as a Tamil Indo-Canadian. The single continuous and uninterrupted line used to create this piece represents my chatoic search for identity, with my emerging South Indian identity being represented by the Bharatanatyam dancer.

To Find Home' (2015-?) was meant to be a piece that personally expressed ideas of home through Garden-like imagery found in Brampton. Through 6 years of undirected progress, it was subject to and evolved alongside my understanding of artistic styles & the idea of home. Eventually, an agreable stylistic approach was found and a new perspective of acceptance in the development of change was adopted to "To Find Home" and the ideas of home were then understood as entities of change, growth, and reinvention.

Hello! My name is Sydney Hussett and I'm a 22 year old emerging artist from Brampton, ON. I aim empower + inspire Black and other women of colour through my art: This piece displays the interconnectedness, diversity, and vibrancy of the art and creative scene in Brampton. I incorporated the words "inspire, create, and dream" into the piece as these values represent both the City of Brampton and myself as an artist.

I came from the city where the flowers bloom  A place where, just like stars, many can shine if you give them room  I'm patiently waiting for my turn to bloom  Just like the flowers do

As the sisterhood shared between Reid and her muse Janice develops over three sets of  images, our assuptions of black women and urban landscapes  shift from harsh to intimate and inviting.

As an artist, I am to influence and be influenced by the communities that hold me. This depiction of Brampton's bustling downtown core has many moving parts, all of which give rise to countless possible interactions.

The images I take have all in some way caught my eye and made me feel something. From the smallest bug to the open sea. I look around at the world and wonder, what am I missing? Beauty is everywhere. Just look. And share.
