​​​​​​​Celebrate Pollinator Week at the Brampton Farmers’ Market!

On June 24th, Parks Programming and the Grow Green team will be at the Brampton Farmers’ Market​ at Gage Park to celebrate International Pollinator Week!

Activities include:

  • Grab a free pack of native seeds to kickstart your own pollinator-friendly garden.
  • Pick up your own "Native Plants for Pollinators" booklet from the Credit Valley Conservation
  • Capture the moment with our pollinator-themed photo booth.
  • Unleash your creativity by participating in origami butterfly making, a fun and educational activity for all ages
  • Roll up your sleeves and join us in making pollinator seed balls, a hands-on experience that supports pollinator habitats.

In addition to these engaging activities, take the opportunity to learn more about local pollinators, discover the actions you can take to support them, and stay informed about the City's ongoing pollinator initiatives. Some of these initiatives include:

  • City and Community ​Pollinator Beds
  • Community Gardens Program
  • Dearbourne Park Pollinator Habitat Project
  • Don't Mow, Let it Grow Program
  • Parks and Valleyland Naturalization Program

Brampton City Hall Clock Tower

Stop by Brampton City Hall during Pollinator Week and check out the clock tower that is lit up yellow! The clock tower located at 2 Wellington Street will illuminate once the sun sets to shine a beacon of hope for our local pollinators.


​​Loafer's Lake Pollinator Garden Talk

Join native plant expert Shawn Patille and learn about what native plants are best for a pollinator bed. Bob Noble will also talk about what native pollinators are attracted to pollinator gardens.
The Loafer's Lake Pollinator bed is a local community project. It has been planted and maintained by the Heart Lake Happenings Adopt A Park Group.

Loafer's Lake Story Walk

A Story Walk is a way for you to enjoy a walk and a story! You don’t need to be there at a specific time and it is available all day for a few weeks. Stop by Loafer's Lake to read Give Bees a Chance by Bethany Barton!


Fred Kline Park Butterflies and Friends Walk

Meet your neighbours and celebrate National Pollinator Week by exploring the wonderful world of pollinators in your neighbourhood! CVC expert Melissa Creasey will guide you along the walk and help you discover why pollinators like bees and butterflies depend on trees, flowers and community care to thrive.

This family-friendly event will explore what you can do to keep pollinators safe, and how initiatives like the Fletchers Creek SNAP Butterflyway and Brampton’s Don’t Mow, Let It Grow program are making space for biodiversity.

Binoculars will be available to borrow to look at pollinators up close! Each household will receive a free University of Guelph Arboretum biodiversity identification sheet, appropriate for all ages and filled with colourful images, while supplies last.​

Pollinator Week Photography Contest

Capture a photo of what pollination means to you, for your chance to win a 100 Easy-to-Grow Native Plants for Canadian Gardens​ book.
Some examples of photos include:
  • A pollinator on a flower
  • A food that requires pollination
  • A pollinators habitat
  • A pollinator garden

Please submit your photos by June 25, 2023 at 4:00 pm. Participants can email their photos to BramptonGreenCity@brampton.ca and will be entered to win 100 Easy-to-Grow Native Plants for Canadian Gardens

  • The odds of winning the prizes are affected by the number of valid entries received.
