What is the Centre for Community Energy Transformation?
Identified as a catalytic action in the Brampton 2040 Vision, the Centre for Community Energy Transformation is a community-based, non-profit organization that will lead the energy transformation in Brampton and the Region of Peel. CCET will to help transition our communities towards a low-carbon future and act as a catalyst in implementing the Community Energy and Emissions Reduction Plan (CEERP)
Over the last year, the City of Brampton has worked with the Region of Peel, City of Mississauga, and Town of Caledon to expand the potential impact of the organization. An Advisory Task Force, consisting of community champions, was developed to provide strategic guidance and help transition the CCET from a conceptual framework to an established non-profit.
CCET is an action-oriented organization that will focus on the following four (4) priorities:
- Advancing deep home retrofits
- Encouraging District Energy
- Spurring industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) energy efficiency
- Promoting outreach and engagement related to climate change
