The Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program is an initiative within the Community Safety & Well-Being Office, at the City of Brampton. It is an innovative way to engage Brampton residents and encourage civic community building. Through the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program, residents have the opportunity to play an active role, and even take the lead, in shaping the future of their neighbourhood.

We want to have meaningful conversations in our neighbourhoods. Residents, join us and share what you love about your neighbourhood and what can be changed. Though the City is there to support, the strongest neighbourhoods are made by the people who live there. Participate now!

How it all Began

This program was created in response to the Brampton 2040 Vision: Living the Mosaic’s Action Item #3-1: A Complete Neighbourhood Audit. A complete neighbourhood audit is a way of systematically updating and revitalizing neighbourhoods to ensure full provisions for comfortable and sustainable living.

Delivering the 2022 Program

The Community Safety & Well-Being Office, through the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program, is committed to engaging our community in a welcoming, thoughtful, safe and healthy setting. With an adapted approach of both in-person and online components, the 2022 Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program will feature visits to 15 pre-identified neighbourhoods across each of the ten wards in Brampton, that have not been visited through the program in previous years (i.e. 2018-2021). For each ward pairing, the format will feature:

  • Virtual walk and online engagement
  • In-person walk and in-person workshop engagement
  • In-person engagement in partnership with municipal partners

As in previous years the program has run, residents have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation about neighbourhoods:

  • I love it here
  • I wish this was here
  • We can do better here

All Brampton residents can play an active role in shaping the future of the community.

Discover Nurturing Neighbourhoods and Get Involved

There are many ways to participate in the process and have your voice heard. To take part in the experience, you can watch the virtual walk video, share your comments through an interactive online mapping activity, and provide feedback by taking the neighbourhood survey. • If you’re able, take the walk yourself
  • Take the neighbourhood survey

  • Share your comments and ideas on the interactive mapping exercise
  • Fill out the survey and encourage a neighbour to take the virtual experience
  • Share an idea with your neighbours and connect with the Program Leads to help get started
