City of Brampton Enforcement Officers attend school patrols regularly and are assigned to schools at the request of neighbours, school administrators, and parent councils. Safety is everyone's number one priority.
The Enforcement Officer’s role is to ensure that parking and traffic regulations are followed, which can improve everyone’s safety.
The School Safety Brochure is available for your convenience, in multiple languages.
No Stopping Zones
There are signs that indicate the no stopping areas. Do not stop in a No Stopping zone(s) for any reason. These areas are not designated for child pick up or drop off. Stopping in these areas may reduce the visibility of other drivers and pedestrians alike, and can cause unsafe conditions. Bus drivers are also unable to see around vehicles that stop in the No Stopping zone(s).
No Parking Zones
You can stop briefly to drop off or pick up passengers in these zones, but waiting in a vehicle or leaving your vehicle unattended is not allowed. Parking in a No Parking zone can also contribute to traffic congestion and collisions, and reduce the visibility of drivers and pedestrians.
Fire Routes
Fire routes are allocated to help Fire and Emergency Services access buildings quickly in the event of an emergency. Blocking these routes, even to drop off or pick up students, can be dangerous for everyone.
Kiss and Ride
These areas have been designed to make pick-up and drop-off at school as quick and efficient as possible. The Kiss and Ride area(s) may still be part of a Fire Route (see above). Please do not park or leave vehicle unattended in a Kiss and Ride area. Doing your part to ease congestion and keep traffic flowing during drop off and pick up time(s) creates a safe environment for all those required to access the area. Adhering to the appropriate dismissal times can help with maintaining the fire route clear at all times. Arriving early and waiting in the Kiss and Ride lane(s) creates congestion and obstructs the fire route.
Accessible Parking Spaces
Accessible parking spaces are for the exclusive use for individuals holding valid accessible parking permits. Using the space without a permit may result in a fine. The access aisle or area adjacent to the accessible parking space is painted with hatch markings. This area is for loading and unloading; providing ample room for an individual with disabilities to exit and enter their vehicle with or without the use of assistive devices. Blocking all or part of an access aisle may result in a fine. Accessible parking spaces at schools not designated and signed for Staff use, are for visitors use only, with a valid permit and with permit holder present.
