It offers Brampton Transit riders a convenient, user-friendly method for reporting harassment, safety concerns or suspicious activity. The BT Safe app also allows riders to notify 911 directly.

Our customers can​ do their part to help make transit safer for all by providing detailed reports of incidents – whether on a bus, at a terminal or a bus stop. Reported issues are confidential and can be made anonymously.

BT Safe App

The BT Safe app is a Transit Safety Mobile Reporting Solution that offers Brampton Transit riders a convenient, user-friendly and discreet method for reporting safety concerns (such as harassment, suspicious activity, et cetera) directly to Brampton Security Services. With this app, users can provide detailed reports of incidents and situations that are observed– whether on a vehicle, in a terminal or at a bus stop, thereby actively contributing to making transit safer for everyone.​

We encourage all Brampton Transit employees and riders to commit to being alert, informed, prepared and involved partners in safety. Be on the alert for suspicious or unusual activity, such as:

  • Packages or bags placed or planted in an out-of-the-way location (e.g., garbage can)
  • Individuals in the act of abandoning an object, package or substance and quickly leaving an area
  • Objects with unusual items (such as batteries, wires, tanks, bottles or bags)
  • An attached message or note
  • A suspicious cloud, mist, gas, vapour, odour or seeping fluid
  • Two or more individuals showing signs of distress (nausea, coughing, difficulty breathing, etc.)
  • A vehicle parked in a restricted area or odd location
  • A window/door open that is usually locked or closed
  • Or other out-of-the-ordinary situations​

By default, the BT Safe app does not collect personal information. Leave the “Name” and “Phone Number” field blank when using the “Report Incident” feature in the app to report incidents anonymously. We do encourage users to provide as much detailed information regarding the incident as possible.​

Your personal information is collected in a number of ways:

  • Visit AppArmor's website to view their Privacy Policy.
  • Review the City of Brampton Access to Information & Privacy Protection webpag​e for information regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
    • The Corporation of the City of Brampton collects personal information under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25, for the purposes of reporting and/or securing evidence in relation to harassment, safety concerns or suspicious activity on transit and terminal property. Any questions or concerns regarding the collection of personal information may be directed to Transit Customer Service, 185 Clark Boulevard | Brampton, ON | L6T 4G6, transit@brampton.ca​, 905.874.2999.
    • If you choose to include your phone number, you agree that Brampton Transit may follow up with you about the specific incident report via SMS, Chat or Voice call. Standard message and data rates may apply.
    • ​Any information submitted through the app, including reports, pictures, and videos, becomes the property of the City, and is accessible and retained in accordance with MFIPPA and the City's by-law retention schedule, respectively.

The Apple and Android mobile apps provide the best experience, however, you may choose to use the BT Safe Incident Report Webform​ to report incidents.​

No, this is your choice. We do encourage users to provide as much detailed information regarding the incident as possible.​

Reporting an incident on the app is only available in English. If you would like to report an incident in another language, you can call 905.874.2111 and ask for an interpreter in your language. Interpretation is available for French, Gujarati, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Urdu and Vietnamese.

For emergencies, please call 911.

Security Services retains the right to investigate all matters related to public safety/security occurring on or in relation to City property whether or not the initial report is later retracted.​

No, the BT Safe app is launching the camera app on your phone. Your previously configured camera settings would apply.​

Security Services will monitor the notices coming in from the BT Safe app 24/7.​

Brampton Transit’s response will depend on the severity of the situation.​

The BT Safe app is designed for iPhone & Android smartphones. However non-smartphones users can still submit a report without the app using the "Text Message Security" feature. By texting your report to 1-877-874-5927, Security Services will receive the report in the same manner as reported through the app. If more information is needed, Security Services may request you call them at 905.874.2111.​
