City Council and Brampton Transit are proud to honour the accomplishments and sacrifices of all Canadian Armed Forces members. Veterans who are residents of Brampton can ride Brampton Transit for free when they show their valid Brampton Transit Veteran Pass​​ upon boarding.​

Application Form​​​​​​

To be eligible to participate in the Brampton Transit Veteran Pass Program, you must meet both of the following criteria:

1) You must be a Veteran, as defined by Veteran Affairs Canada.  A Veteran is defined as “Any former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who successfully underwent basic training and is honourably released”.  This includes Officers & Non-Commissioned Members; and

2) You must be a permanent resident of the city of Brampton.

​The following three documents must be submitted to start the approval process:

1) Completed Brampton Transit Veteran Pass Application Form; and

2) Proof of Brampton residency (government-issued photo identification along with a recent utility or property tax bill); and

3) Proof of service as a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who successfully underwent basic training and is honourably released (e.g. certificate of service, discharge papers, letter from regiment Commander, CF1 Card, Veterans Service Card, etc.).

STEP 2:  Process
Once submitted, your application may take up to 10 business days to be processed.

STEP 3:  Approval and Photo ID Card
Once processed, you will be notified of the status of your application.  Upon approval, you will be required to have your photograph taken to be included on your Brampton Transit Veteran Pass.  Your Pass may be picked up in person or mailed to the address listed on your application.

Government-issued photo identification, along with a recent utility or property tax bill is required as proof of identity to receive the Veterans Pass.

If you do not have the required photo identification, you can contact a Service Ontario office to apply for the new Ontario Photo Card.

You must present the Brampton Transit Veteran Pass to the Operator every time you board a bus to ride for free. If you require a transfer, please ask the Operator when you board.

You may board using your Brampton Transit Veteran Pass and travel for free.  As per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), a Support Person accompanying a person with a disability rides for free.  So in this instance, both you and your Support Person would ride for free.

No.  Your Brampton Transit Veteran Pass will only be accepted when boarding a Brampton Transit bus.  If you are transferring from Brampton Transit to a neighbouring transit system (e.g. MiWay, YRT/Viva, TTC) you may present a valid transfer (requested at time of boarding) to the other transit system.  If boarding another transit system on your return trip, you will be required to pay the appropriate fare.

Conditions of Use:

• Veteran Pass is valid for 2 years from date of issue, and entitles the user to unlimited ridership privileges on regularly scheduled Brampton Transit/Züm services. 
• The pass must be clearly displayed to the Operator upon boarding the bus.
• If a transfer is required to complete your trip, you must ask the Operator at the time of boarding.
• Pass is non-transferable and is authorized for use only by the person it is issued to. 
• Pass remains the property of Brampton Transit and may be revoked at any time. 
• Pass must not be reproduced or altered in any way.  Improper use may result in prosecution. 
• If lost, there is a $5 fee to obtain a replacement pass.
