Page Content Do you offer orientation for new participants at recreation centres?Yes, we recommend all new fitness participants book an appointment for a complimentary fitness consultation. Please speak to any of our Fitness Floor Staff to book an appointment. What should I expect during my fitness consultation?A Fitness Floor Staff will review your fitness goals and show you how to safely use the fitness centre. Please come to the appointment in appropriate fitness attire and bring a water bottle. Please be advised that it is recommended that all participants consult a physician prior to the start of any physical activity.What should I wear to workout?Proper athletic clothing (including a top and bottom), and indoor athletic shoes that are dry and clean must be worn in all fitness areas. Please do not wear excessively loose, long flowing clothes, chains, belts, buckles and/or metal fasteners. Open-toed shoes, boots and outdoor footwear are also prohibited.Are lockers available?Yes, lockers and quarter lockers are available at most facilities. Locks are not provided by the facility. Lockers are available for day use only and locks and personal belongings must be removed at the end of your visit. All locks will be removed from lockers by staff at the end of each day. Valuable items are to be left at home as the City of Brampton is not responsible for lost or stolen items.Do I need to book an appointment to use the fitness centre?Pre-registration is not required for visits to recreation centres, however, it is recommended that visitors register for programs in advance as all services are on a first-come, first-served basis.How do I cancel my appointment if I am unable to attend?Cancel your reservation by logging into your online recreation registration account. Please view this tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to cancel your reservation. Cancellations are accepted online and via phone up to one hour in advance of the program start time. Participants can also email recreation@brampton.ca to cancel their reservation up to 24 hours in advance of the program start time. How do I check-in for my appointment/attend the gym?To check-in, scan your key tag/card at the scanning station and verify your appointment time with our staff if you have arrived for a group fitness class. A key tag/card is required for every visit.Can I bring in my own fitness equipment?No external equipment is permitted at this time, with the exception of exercise/yoga mats.Do you have gym etiquette guidelines?Clean all equipment using sanitary wipes before and after use. Do not drop weights or use collars on weight bars. Put away equipment after use. Fitness equipment must be used for its intended purpose. Please ask staff if you are unsure of how to use equipment. Be respectful of all gym users and staff. Coarse language and/or aggressive and disrespectful behaviour is unacceptable. If inappropriate behaviour occurs, it will be recorded, reported and may result in the removal from the program/facility. Soliciting of products or services at or on City of Brampton property is strictly prohibited, including Personal Training not conducted by City of Brampton staff. Keep noise to a minimum level. Be mindful of other users who are waiting for equipment. Be considerate of staff and members who have a chemical sensitivity to certain perfumes/ colognes. Personal belongings (gym bags, coats), food and/or glass containers, and personal equipment/accessories (chalk, chains, weight pins, audio speaker devices, etc.) are not permitted in the fitness area.To ensure the privacy of others filming or photography may not be permitted during certain registered programs and/or drop-in programming. Additionally, electronic devices are not permitted to be used in change rooms or washrooms.Is there a minimum age to use the fitness centre?Yes, the minimum age is 14 years to use the fitness centre and/or purchase a fitness membership.
