​Brampton: The Cricket Capital of Canada!

Cricket is a very popular sport in Brampton, and continues to grow in popularity amongst all age groups. We are excited to share updates regarding cricket amenity upgrades around the city:​

Installation of natural cricket pitches and improved screens were completed in 2020.

The existing cricket field was redeveloped in 2021 to expand the field to international standards, including natural turf wickets, adjusting the field layout to provide better sun orientation, improved grading, and spectator access. ​

​Development of a fully lit cricket field is underway, with anticipated completion in 2024. Installation of a general purpose shade shelter was also completed to support all multi-use, including cricket.

Pitch replacement scheduled for 2023 to support the emerging format of Cricket.​

A new cricket pitch at Emancipation Park opened for play in 2020. Improvements included the addition of sight screens to the cricket amenities on site, allowing for enhanced cricket play for larger groups, tournaments, and the competitive grass-roots cricket leagues. Repairs to the existing batting cage, a pilot washroom installation and a general purpose shade structure are slated for 2023. ​

Improvements to the existing cricket field were completed in 2021 and included expanded field of play, turf upgrades, adjusting the field layout to provide better sun orientation, and irrigation. ​

Development of one premier cricket pitch and two community cricket pitches will be included in the overall development of Gore Meadows Community Park​, anticipated completion in 2025.

Lighting was added in 2021 to make this location the City’s first fully lit cricket pitch. ​The location also features multiple natural pitches. ​

​Brampton’s second fully lit cricket field has been completed. Amenities include upgraded natural turf wickets, scoreboard, sightscreens, improved spectator seating, irrigation, and park pathways. Additional lighting is being installed and will be in place in Spring 2023.

Joint partnership with Peel District School Board at Turner Fenton Secondary School to build a full-sized, fully lit cricket field; anticipated completion in 2024. ​

GT20: Game On at the CAA Centre

The City of Brampton was proud to be the 2023 host sponsor of the GT20 Canada tournament, North America’s first-ever major T20 tournament aimed at popularising and developing the game of cricket. The tournament provides a platform not only to local Canadian cricketers but also to the other associate nation cricketers to share the field with legends.
