Prosecutions
The Prosecution Unit is part of the Legal Services Division of the City of Brampton and represents the City in the prosecution of municipal by-laws and provincial statutes, and at the City’s administrative tribunals.
The Prosecutions Unit does not provide legal services or advice to members of the public. If you are looking for a lawyer or paralegal to represent you or give you advice or counsel, you can contact the Law Society of Ontario Referral Service.

The Prosecutors’ Office accepts Motions, Applications, Appeals and First Adjournment Requests to be served upon it by email. For DISCLOSURE REQUESTS, please see below.

Disclosure
You have a right to know what the Prosecutor's case is. This is called "disclosure". Disclosure is a process by which the defendant is provided with copies of all evidentiary documentation including such items as police or enforcement officer's notes and witness statements that may be used by the Prosecutor during the trial. To request disclosure for your matter, click below. Instructions are included in the request form.

Speed Measuring Devices
If you have been charged with speeding by a Peel Regional Police officer and the officer used a radar or laser device to obtain the speed reading, you can obtain a copy of the relevant manual for the device used by clicking on the link to the manual. The officer's notes will indicate what device the officer used.
If your speeding offence was reduced by the Police Officer
If you have been charged with a speeding offence and the evidence at trial discloses a higher rate of speed, take notice that the Prosecutor may request the court to amend the charge to conform to the evidence in accordance with s. 34 of the Provincial Offences Act and ask the court to find you guilty at the higher rate of speed. Your disclosure or your Offence Notice may indicate the higher rate of speed (See R v Winlow 2009 ONCA 643).
