Making Connections: Meet, Stroll, Cheer
Located to the East of Kennedy and West of Highway 410 and to the East of Hurontario, this Precinct will be serviced by great access to public transit along the Züm networks on Steeles and Kennedy and to the regional highway system. The CAA Master plans identified the area will be complemented by an upgraded multi-purpose sports and conference facilities to host a wide range of events drawing visitors from across the region. This includes a 10,000-20,000-seat cricket stadium, tennis centre and baseball centre. The Canadian T20 Tournament (cricket) in July of 2019 amassed 120M viewers worldwide and the interest in Canada is growing.
The public space includes a lush boulevard greened with trees. The public realm will encourage strolling along the sidewalk and the street network will ensure it is easy to take in a game.
Currently, the area is the location of the CAA sports and entertainment facility, commercial, and residential uses. The redevelopment of the Precinct will better integrate those uses to make for a vibrant and walkable neighbourhood.
