Earlier this year, the Ontario government began its expected review of eight regional municipalities (Halton, York, Durham, Waterloo, Niagara, Peel, Muskoka District, and Oxford County), the County of Simcoe, and all lower-tier municipalities.
The overall objective of the review was to ensure the affected municipalities are:
- Working well and supporting the future economic prosperity of residents and businesses; and
- Working harder, smarter and more efficiently.
