BRAMPTON, ON – To better safeguard and protect personal information, the City of Brampton is implementing changes to the way it accepts, processes and stores credit card payments.
Starting February 9, 2024, the City will no longer accept credit card information or payments over the phone, by email, or in-field payments (payments collected outside of City facilities). Instead, residents, visitors and businesses are encouraged to use secure online payment options for services and fees. In addition, the City will no longer store credit card information in its internal systems to ensure payment information is kept secure.
Residents, visitors and businesses can continue to pay by credit card at in-person customer services counters and online at www.Brampton.ca.
The City of Brampton remains steadfast in its commitment to keeping the personal and sensitive data of our residents, businesses and customers safe.
Secure payment options:
- Online Payments: Visit www.Brampton.ca to conveniently pay for services and fees.
- In-person: Cash (except taxes), debit card and credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) can still be made at customer service counters.
Service Brampton
Service Brampton will continue to provide payment processing services in-person at Brampton City Hall, or at Service Brampton counters (Cassie Campbell Community Centre, Gore Meadows Community Centre and Save Max Sports Centre) such as recreation registration, parking ticket payments and non-cash tax payments. Credit card, debit card, cash (except taxes) and cheques will all be accepted at these locations.
Brampton On Stage
Theatre patrons can continue to purchase tickets online at bramptononstage.ca or in-person at the Brampton On Stage Box Office, located at The Rose (1 Theatre Lane).

Brampton Recreation
Brampton residents can continue to register for recreation programs and pay for facility rentals online using secure credit card payments or in-person at any registration location with cash, debit card, or credit card.
ActiveAssist, generously sponsored by 407 ETR and Capital Power, is a fee subsidy program offered by the City of Brampton, designed to help low-income families and individuals in Brampton participate in recreation programs. This program is available for Brampton families who qualify.
Brampton Transit
Brampton Transit will continue to offer its riders flexible ways to pay fares with various options.
Brampton Transit buses accept exact change when paying cash. Upon request, a two-hour paper transfer is issued at the time of fare payment.
Riders may also choose to use contactless payments, same as cash fare, with credit and debit cards, including those on phones and watches, a two-hour electronic transfer is automatically included in the cost of the fare.
Riders may purchase a PRESTO card online or in-person at one of the following Brampton Transit terminals and facilities:
- Bramalea Terminal (160 Central Park Drive)
- Downtown Brampton Terminal (8 Nelson Street)
- Brampton Gateway Terminal (501 Main Street South)
- Clark Transit Facility (185 Clark Boulevard)
- Sandalwood Transit Facility (130 Sandalwood Parkway West)
Acceptable payment forms include cash, debit card, or credit card. There is a $4 non-refundable issuance fee upon purchase of a physical PRESTO Card with a minimum load required of $0.05.
Brampton Transit is a participant in the Region of Peel’s Affordable Transit Program. This program is a partnership between the Region of Peel, the City of Brampton and the City of Mississauga to offer a 50 per cent discount on the regular cost of an adult monthly pass to eligible applicants. Brampton Animal Services
Pet licensing fees can be paid online, by mail with a cheque or in-person at City of Brampton Animal Services (475 Chrysler Drive).
Brampton Library
Brampton Library will continue to accept cash, debit and credit card payments in-person at any of its eight locations for printing, photocopying, or to settle outstanding charges for lost or damaged materials.
Parking in Brampton
Pay and display machines will continue to accept cash, debit card and credit card payments.
Daily parking in downtown Brampton is provided for the public, nearby businesses and their employees at the municipal lots and garages listed below. Overnight parking is not permitted.
- Market Square Parking Garage (Theatre Lane and Union Street)
- John Street Parking Garage (16 John Street)
- City Hall Parking Garage (2 Wellington Street West)
- West Tower Parking Garage (41 George Street)
- Nelson Square Parking Garage (9 Diplock Lane)
- George Street North Surface Parking Lot (20 George Street North)
Bicycle parking is available at every garage except at Nelson Square Garage and West Tower Garage.
Parking remains complimentary at this time.
Paying a ticket or a fine
Voluntary Penalty Notice or Provincial Offences Act (POA) infraction payments can be made online, in-person at Brampton City Hall (2 Wellington Street West) or 5 Ray Lawson Boulevard., by mail with a cheque, or by using the automated touch-tone system at 905.874.2404 or downloading the Brampton 311 app.
Individuals receiving a Penalty Notice have the right, within a limited time frame, to dispute the penalty. The option to dispute the penalty is available either online or in-person with a screening officer. For online requests, visit www.brampton.ca/DisputeThePenaltyNotice. Alternatively, individuals can request an in-person Screening Review by calling 311 for Brampton residents (905.874.2000 for non-residents).
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services
Fire permits and
inspection fees can be paid once a Fire Prevention staff member contacts the applicant to provide details about process payment. Contact Brampton Fire and Emergency Services at 905.874.2700 and always call 911 for emergencies.
