​HEALTH & SAFETY PARAMETERS: Camp​

Pre-Registration Requirements

Pre-registration is not required for visits to recreation centres, however, it is recommended that visitors purchase their services online in advance of their visit as all services are first-come, first-served.  
 

Self Screening

The health and well-being of our staff and community is the City of Brampton's top priority. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, visitors are asked to complete the self-screening assessment located at the entrance prior to accessing City facilities.

Masks

Individuals entering City recreation centres are no longer required to wear a mask. Those who wish to continue to wear a mask when using recreation facilities are welcome to do so.​


Sign-In and -Out Process

Campers must be signed in and out everyday by a parent/guardian, emergency contact or designated pick-up person. At sign out, the individual completing the pick-up will be asked to provide identification each time they arrive to pick-up the camper. This is to ensure the safety of all campers.

Please ensure you leave extra time each day for drop-off and pick-up as this process might take longer than expected.

Camp Space

Each camp location has access to an isolation space (in case a child exhibits COVID-19 symptoms) and an outdoor space. Camp spaces will be designated solely for each individual camp group’s use. 

Enhanced Cleaning Procedures

Enhanced cleaning procedures will be adopted to ensure spaces are kept clean and disinfected. Cleaning schedules will include the following:
  • All spaces used by camps will be cleaned a minimum of twice daily. 
  • Any shared space will be cleaned immediately upon usage by one camp group before the next uses the space. 
  • Washrooms will be cleaned every hour.
  • Hand sanitizer will be used throughout the camp day as part of enhanced hand hygiene. Proper hand washing will also be emphasized.​
Daily Screening​​

Campers will be required to self screen daily before coming to camp.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 (not related to other known causes or conditions) that require immediate self-isolation and, if eligible, COVID-19 testing include:

  • Fever (temperature of 37.8°C/100.0°F or greater) and/or chills.
  • Cough (that is new or worsening (e.g. continuous, more than usual if chronic cough) including croup (barking cough, making a whistling noise when breathing).
  • Shortness of breath (dyspnea, out of breath, unable to breathe deeply, wheeze, that is worse than usual if chronically short of breath).
  • Decrease or loss of smell or taste.

Two or more of the following symptoms of COVID-19 require immediate self-isolation and, if eligible, COVID-19 testing include:

  • Extreme fatigue, lethargy, or malaise (general feeling of being unwell, lack of energy, extreme tiredness) that is unusual or unexplained.
  • Muscle aches or joint pain that are unexplained, unusual, or long-lasting.
  • Nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea.
  • Sore throat (painful swallowing or difficulty swallowing).
  • Rhinorrhea or nasal congestion (runny nose or stuffy nose).
  • Headache that is new and persistent, unusual, unexplained, or long-lasting.

If a camper starts to display common or related symptoms of COVID-19 while at camp, the following steps will be followed:

Staff will immediately notify the parent/guardian and request immediate pick-up (within one hour).

The camp participant will await their parent/guardian in an isolation area with a staff member.

Siblings or participants that live in the same dwelling will be isolated together as a precaution.

To prevent community spread of COVID-19 and emerging variants, Peel Public Health has updated its guidance and recommendations regarding the use of masks.  

  • Non-medical masks are optional. ​
