About the Open Government Initiative

Open Government is an initiative about improving services through demonstrating that we are open, transparent and are striving to enhance our community.

The City of Brampton is committed to excellence as a municipal government. As part of this commitment the City of Brampton is exploring new ways to integrate collaborative technology in order to improve community engagement, enhance operational efficiency and to promote the concept of a more transparent government. Providing a single place to view and acquire all datasets currently published by the City of Brampton.

The City has officially launched the Open Data Catalogue site with a set of popular Transit datasets and the Open Information site with the City’s facilities energy consumption data per Ontario regulation number  397/11 of the  Ontario’s Green Energy Act (GEA).

We encourage people to use the data and entrepreneurs to develop new applications that will offer exciting new services to others.

In time this will be expanded to include other types of data as well. It is hoped that the public will help us in identifying what data they would like to have available and therefore be a part of the process. Data that will not be included will be anything of a personal or privacy related nature.
